UM's Cochlear Implant contains of 128 Electrodes



It would be available for humans within 4 to 5 years from now.

AB is working on 121 Channels software with existing elecrodes in CII and HiRes90K which has 16 electrodes.

Cochlear has either 16 or 22 electrodes (I have to check cochlear site for specs but I do know they haven't gone higher yet. and I haven't heard anything about software like AB is working on.

If this new technology works then hope this will be used in fully implantable mode than two piece technologies we have now (internal and external)

Yes, AB do provide 121 Channel software but that is called "virtual" channels. There is not 121 channels but 16 channels in AB implant. Virtual 121 channels means, it acts like 121 channels but physically still 16 channels.
